When it came to Best in Show the seven dogs lined up were all quality exhibits, however the one that kept catching my eye was the beautifully balanced young Dobermann bitch, Sanderson Jacktay Cardinal Sins At Jodaseen. She has a lovely head with good planes, lovely dark eyes and well set ears. She’s well muscled throughout with good bone and nice tight feet. ‘Sanderson’s Jaktay Cardinal Sins at Jodaseen, 10 month b/r pup. She has the legs of a supermodel, which I hope her body will grow into! Her head is well developed and feminine with good length of muzzle and good planes, dark eyes, well-set ears of good size, all flowing into a super arched neck. Square body with strong topline, perhaps needing to settle a bit as she matures, leading to good croup and tailset. Adequate angulation. Good straight bone, good coat texture and colour. Moved smoothly with reach and drive, showing off her super condition and musculature. HUGO is Awarded his 5th CC AT Crufts 2015

At Crufts 2015 Hugo was judged by International Judge and Breed Specialist Lynn Glass and awarded the Dog CC and Reserve Best Of Breed. A Huge Thank You and to say we were over whelmed would be an under statement.

What an honour to judge this show – thank you to all the exhibitors who entered their dogs, I hope my critiques will explain my take on the breed standard and my reasoned placings & awards. We all have certain aspects that are more or less important when assessing adherance to the breed standard, dog showing is basically a beauty contest, but of course keeping in mind function & purpose. As a working dog a Dobermann must be sound (in mind and body), medium size, of sufficient substance and with correct dentition. That does not mean I won’t place a dog with a dentition fault, I want to assess the whole dog when deciding it’s merit – including movement, natural conformation, stance, dentition and condition on the day. In general my main concerns for the breed at the moment are – excessive length, poor front movement, light round eyes and level bites. (Level bites cause inscisors to wear down abnormally quickly so are to be avoided.)

‘1) Sanderson’s Aritaur Cardinal Red at Jodaseen Sh CM, brown of medium size, elegant but with enough substance. Superb outline with correct angulation front & rear, strong sloping topline which he held on the move. Correct croup & tailset, well muscled and with well developed forechest. Chest correctly down to elbows, long balanced head, back skull could be more flat. An excellent example who I see from the catalogue is also producing quality progeny. Pleased to award him the CC.’ Lynn Glass(GainDyke)

Hugo’s Progeny also did Well

Asia 1st Minor Puppy Bitch

‘1) Sanderson’s Jaktay Cardinal Sins at Jodaseen, stood alone but a worthy winner. Tall elegant black puppy of pleasing sharp outline, lacking a little in spring of rib but this will hopefully develop with age. Pleasing head with correct parallel planes and dark eyes. Good angulation, sloping topline & correct croup. Moved soundly & confidently.’ Lynn Glass(GainDyke)

Ruth & Frieda

Frieda 1st in Yearling Bitch

‘1) Robinson & Parrott’s Remescas Reet Petite, eye catching brown female of almost 2 years. Not the strongest of heads but excells in body proportions and angulation – backline, croup & tailset are all excellent. Good bone and correct tight feet, moved freely with a long stride.’ Lynn Glass(GainDyke)
